Pranay murder case: Congress Legislature Party leader K. Jana Reddy on Monday said the party has decided to suspend its Miryalaguda town working president Md. Kareem for his alleged link with the killing of Peramalla Pranay Kumar on Friday.
Md. Kareem was taken into custody by the police on Sunday, bringing a new twist to the case, and is being interrogated in Nalgonda. Sources said the town leader’s role was “crucial” in the execution of the whole plan.
Meeting with the bereaved family in their Muthureddykunta Colony, Mr. Jana Reddy was here to express his condolences. He spoke with the deceased’s wife Amrutha and the parents.
“Such trend in society is a danger to be addressed immediately. Those found guilty should be punished,” he said, condemning the killing of Pranay.
He demanded that the government extend protection to the family.
Visiting the family was also balladeer and activist A. Vimala, popular as Vimalakka.
“Separating Amrutha and Pranay, an epitome of love, is terrible and shameful. Such acts should be fought and prevented together,” she said.
Condolences for the family kept pouring in from wide social and voluntary groups. Leaders from and outside the town, news platforms and media agencies, student associations from Osmania University and Hyderabad Central University were present.
